Why do the Obamas say that they are "vacationing" in Florida when they are only spending 27 hours there?

From scheduled arrival of Air Force One Saturday to the time it departs on Sunday, the Obamas will have spent 26 hours and 50 minutes on the ground in the Panama City area.

Because its 27 hours of fresh and unclean sex, maaaannn!!! Obama’s more consurned abowt his weewee beeing suckied then the unimployed. Yeah!

Im 14 and I need Learning Service Hours for my school. I am interested in politics and was hoping I could do something that I would enjoy. I could intern somewhere but I want it to be in politics so I have an early start. I don’t live in D.C. or anything, i live in Florida. I would appreciate if you guys gave me some ideas!!! thanks so much!

First of all don’t commit yourself to either party yet! Learn as much as you can about each party.
Start at the local level, talk to your mayor. I bet he would have pointers for you!
As you get older you can go to city government , state government then to Federal.
Go to your counselors at school and ask what courses would most benefit you and your future career.
Join a debating team at your school. A politician needs to get his ideas across to his constituents! Good Luck!

Question for Florida residents…what do you think of your states politics?

I will be moving to Florida in a year. Miami to be exact. I am from the north (Michigan). I love mostly everything about Florida…except the ridiculously conservative politics I hear about all the time. (passing of amendment 2…are you kidding me?)
So my question for Florida residents…what do you think of your states political system, and with Florida going blue in the last election, do you think there will be a shift in values/opinions in the future?

It’s quite an odd place, especially in the SE part of the state. I’ve been in Broward County for the last five years. I’m originally from NY, and lived in Southern California for fifteen years. Since I’ve been here, I don’t think I’ve ever met so many ignorant people. It’s sad, but true. I’m also a substitute teacher. I see the next generation of potential voters, and it scares me.

My friend/boss/veterinarian is also from MI, and I think he kind of feels the same way, maybe just not as strongly as I do. I find it very difficult living here, but I think it’s mostly just me.

EDIT: I just read the answer above mine, about the less meddlesome government. Perhaps this is true, but we also are in the lowest percentile of test scores in the country.

Republican States to get shorelines drenched in Oil, do they still want to Drill?

Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida will have their beaches drenched in oil from the spill. Fish and other wildlife will wash ashore dead and rotting.
How will it affect the politics of oil in those states? Will they still want drilling off their coast lines?

If lower level junior staffers can spend so liberally, can you imagine how the major players spend their contribution money? Is the GOP really the party of fiscal responsibility?

The Republicans haven’t been the Party of Fiscal Responsibility since at least the 1970s. Before Ronald Reagan, Republicans were all about running the government like a business, balancing the budget even if that meant spending cuts, tax increases, or some combination of both of those.

Then along came Reagan with his cheerful idea that we could balance the budget by spending MORE and taxing LESS. It was like one of those fad diets where you lose all the weight you want by eating only chocolate and Mexican food. It had the great charm of never having been tried. But it was tried, and it failed -spectacularly-. In a single term, Reagan doubled the entire pre-existing national debt. Well into his second term, on his way to tripling the debt, Reagan was still insisting that his tax cuts for the rich and corporations would boost the economy enough to pay back the debt he’d incurred. It didn’t even cover the interest on the new debt.

But Republicans believe that you haven’t failed until you admit failure. (This is why they also refuse to admit GW Bush’s egregious failures.)

The GOP is really (and has always been) The Party of Privileged People. Staffers believe themselves entitled to spend lots of party cash, because they deserve it. Just as millionaires deserve to make their capital gains tax-free and corporations believe they have the right to move their mailbox to the Cayman Islands to escape their own tax liabilities.

Traditionally the GOP has always had a lot more campaign money to spend than the Democrats. That’s no longer true but it’s hard for them to change their privileged mindset. 8^)

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Attorney General Bill McCollum wasn’t on the invitation list for U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s meeting Tuesday with Gulf state attorneys generals and U.S. attorneys after his tour of areas affected by the massive Gulf oil spill. McCollum’s office didn’t even know about the meeting in New Orleans until a reporter e-mailed a Justice Department press release to his spokeswoman

Why is this partisan Eric Holder the US Attorney General? Isn’t he supposed to represent and/or at least PRETEND to be the pillar of JUSTICE in America? HE’S THE US ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

But….. Eric Holder was appointed by 0bama, who also appointed that self avowed communist as Green Czar… 0bama also booted Fox News out of the white house. Does anyone else smell something odd about this 0bama administration?

Lets see Holder snubs Florida, 0bama snubs Jindal and Brewer, I get the feeling this administration could care less about the Southern states. I think that is it, so time to impeach and vote them out.
