I hate to have go all the way back down to southern florida to take care of this.

That would probably depend on the nature of the situation you’re filing about – if it’s non-payment of alimony or child support, you should be able to file anywhere. If it’s regarding breaking of some other sort of decree, you might possibly need to file with the original judge that issued it. Your best bet is to contact the Duval clerk and ask them.

First of all don’t commit yourself to either party yet! Learn as much as you can about each party.
Start at the local level, talk to your mayor. I bet he would have pointers for you!
As you get older you can go to city government , state government then to Federal.
Go to your counselors at school and ask what courses would most benefit you and your future career.
Join a debating team at your school. A politician needs to get his ideas across to his constituents! Good Luck!

Miami to be exact. I am from the north (Michigan). I love mostly everything about Florida…except the ridiculously conservative politics I hear about all the time. (passing of amendment 2…are you kidding me?)
So my question for Florida residents…what do you think of your states political system, and with Florida going blue in the last election, do you think there will be a shift in values/opinions in the future?

It’s quite an odd place, especially in the SE part of the state. I’ve been in Broward County for the last five years. I’m originally from NY, and lived in Southern California for fifteen years. Since I’ve been here, I don’t think I’ve ever met so many ignorant people. It’s sad, but true. I’m also a substitute teacher. I see the next generation of potential voters, and it scares me.

My friend/boss/veterinarian is also from MI, and I think he kind of feels the same way, maybe just not as strongly as I do. I find it very difficult living here, but I think it’s mostly just me.

EDIT: I just read the answer above mine, about the less meddlesome government. Perhaps this is true, but we also are in the lowest percentile of test scores in the country.

What is the hold up? Is it normal to hold a body for 5 weeks? The funeral home has been there several times and they are told that the body has not been released yet…. They have all the paperwork.. signed and dated…. WTF?

I’m sorry to hear that. If the funeral home keeps going back then obviously that’s not the standard.
The only thing I would think of if they’re waiting on some sort of results from a lab that can take a long period of time.
